  • Quarles assumes command of Corps’ Middle East District

    WINCHESTER, Va. - Col. Vincent Quarles assumed command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Middle East District, in a ceremony at the District’s Headquarters here, Monday, March 31. Quarles succeeds Col. Jon Christensen, who has been the District commander since August 2011. Christensen retired from his 30-year Army career immediately following the change of command.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District awarded a contract for the United Kingdom Maritime Component Command Development, at the Mina Salman Port, NSA II, Bahrain. The contract was awarded on Jan. 21, for $9.8 million to American International Contractors, Inc., of Arlington, Va.
  • Middle East District awards contract for F-16 Bed-down Project, Balad Air Base, Iraq

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District awarded a foreign military sales task order contract for the F-16 Bed-down Project, Balad Air Base, Iraq. The task order was awarded Jan. 31 for $43.8 to Contrack International Inc., of McLean, Va.
  • Rusafa Courthouse Handed Over During Ceremony

    Oct. 3, marked the official handover of the newly renovated Rusafa Federal Courthouse in Baghdad, Iraq. The much needed renovation project included repairs to the courthouse building and grounds, as well as improvements to the security of the facility.

  • Middle East District Awards Warehouse Facilities at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District awarded a contract for the construction of nine pre-engineered humidity controlled metal storage buildings at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. Contrack International Inc., of McLean, Va., was awarded the contract for $54.6 million on Sept. 27.
  • Middle East District Awards East Apron and Hangar, Oman

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District awarded a contract for the construction of the east apron and hangar located at Al Musanah Air Base, Oman. Awarded on Sept. 26, the contract went to CDM/CAPE JV of Cambridge, Mass., for $15.4 million.
  • Middle East District Awards Transient Quarters and Dining Facility in Manama, Bahrain

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District awarded a task order contract for transient quarters and dining facility in Manama, Bahrain, on Sept. 11. ECC CENTCOM Constructors, LLC, of Burlingame, Calif., was awarded the task order contract for $40.3 million.
  • DEPLOYMENT CENTER CLOSING CEREMONY HONORS TEAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND SUCCESSES

    Since 2005, the USACE Deployment Center has been the first stop for thousands of deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Managed by and housed at the Middle East District headquarters in Winchester, thousands of USACE civilians, Soldiers and contractors, along with thousands of members from other federal agencies, have spent their first week away from their home stations at the Deployment Center being trained and equipped for their new mission.
