    Charrettes: Laying the foundation for project success

    The Army Corps of Engineers conducts charrettes as a standard practice for project planning and preparation, which sends teams comprised of personnel with specialized skills from various internal divisions to a proposed project site. What makes the Middle East District unique is that its charrettes occur in many of the 20 countries within the U.S. Central Command area of operations, far from the district’s Winchester, Va., headquarters.

    Pre-Proposal Conference held Feb. 18

    The Middle East District hosted a pre-proposal conference on Feb. 18 for two contracts that will provide operations and maintenance (O&M) services to the Afghanistan National Security Forces (ANSF). Thirty-nine contractors representing 28 international firms attended theconference.

    The Camp Arifjan Expeditionary Medical Facility Kuwait transitioned from a temporary tent facility to the new Level III Hospital facility in March. Equipment, supplies and patients moved into the new hospital in a sequence that allowed medical operations to continue seamlessly. The Hospital significantly raised the level of patient care for service members stationed in Kuwait, and Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
