Despite numerous challenges, including technical setbacks with faulty materials, Mark Whitacre, the lead engineer technician, played a pivotal role in troubleshooting and adapting solutions to ensure the project's success. Supported by team members like Ted Kientz and Program Manager Kristine Brannon, the map was finished on budget and on time, marking a key milestone in Lebanon's military planning efforts.

His time in Jordan, which included visiting the historic site of Petra, left a lasting impression, and he highly recommends the program for its invaluable insights into military and engineering careers in the Middle East.

    Transatlantic Middle East District Celebrates Leadership Development Graduates: Building Future Corps Leaders and Stronger Team

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Middle East District celebrated the graduation of eight employees from the Leadership Development Program Tier 1 during a ceremony on September 5. The program, designed to cultivate future leaders within USACE, included a revamped curriculum that emphasized mentorship and practical capstone projects to improve TAM's project delivery process. Col. Christopher Klein highlighted the program's importance in growing leaders and fostering team cohesion across the district. Graduates praised the program for providing a broader understanding of the organization and enhancing leadership skills.

    Mission-Driven Legal Excellence: Aimee Rippeon’s Journey as Twice the Citizen with TAM and the Army Reserve

    Aimee Rippeon, an Assistant Counsel in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Middle East District (TAM), plays a critical role in ensuring legally sound decisions. Since joining TAM in 2016 through the Honors Attorney Program, she has gained extensive procurement and litigation experience. After a brief stint with the Navy and a three-star command, she returned to TAM in 2022. Rippeon excels in procurement, fiscal law, and litigation, often working closely with Project Development Teams and Contracting Officers. Her work helps defend TAM against bid protests and contract disputes. Rippeon is also an Army Reserve Judge Advocate and will soon embark on a ten-month LL.M. program, further enhancing her legal expertise. Her dedication and contributions significantly support TAM's mission and legal integrity.
