Rusafa Courthouse Handed Over During Ceremony

Oct. 3, marked the official handover of the newly renovated Rusafa Federal Courthouse in Baghdad, Iraq. The much needed renovation project included repairs to the courthouse building and grounds, as well as improvements to the security of the facility.

Joint Civilian Service Commendation awarded in Iraq to Middle East District Program Manager

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers team member Douglas Harold Plachy was recently presented the Joint Civilian Service Commendation Medal from Lt. Gen. Robert Caslen Jr., chief, Office of Security Cooperation-Iraq during a ceremony in Baghdad, April 24.

MED in charge of Iraq projects

The Middle East District’s Iraq Area Office officially became the sole U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project manager in Iraq during a transfer of authority ceremony June 2 at Camp Wolfe on Victory Base Complex, near Baghdad.

Award-winning project has a clear purpose

The U.S. Forces-Iraq Operations Facility is far from being the most aesthetically pleasing project entered in the annual competition of the American Council of Engineering Companies. It is not beautiful and does not minimize a carbon footprint like other national finalists, according to Deborah Duncan, Deputy for Programs and Project Management at the Middle East District.
