WINCHESTER, Va. – The Middle East District invites contractors to attend an Industry Day at the Millwood Station, located at 252 Costello Drive, Winchester, Va. Meeting will be Oct. 16, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Check-in for the event will begin at 7:30 a.m.
Purpose
Explain MED's mission, introduce its customers, and discuss potential future acquisitions. Some of the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) categories our requirements fall under are Sector 22, Utilities), (Sector 23, Construction), (Sector 42, Wholesale Trade), (Sector 54, Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services) with multiple NAICS codes in these areas.
The District’s area of responsibility is Afghanistan, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, and Yemen. Discuss the four point relationship between USACE, the customer, the Architect-Engineer (A/E) and the construction contractor outlining challenges and some lessons learned for successful project delivery.
Industry will be offered an opportunity to share their lessons learned, success stories and contracting best practices for potential future partnership opportunities. Companies are encouraged to send potential topics of discussion to the POC listed below prior to the registration date.

Registration will open August 1, 2014 on Fikket's online registration site and additional information will be provided through amendments to this Special Notice prior to registration date. Fees for this event are $45 per person and this event is open to small and large businesses with an interest in working in our area of responsibility.

This event is open to all contractors and is not restricted to those currently under contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This is not a marketing or outreach activity but an opportunity to introduce the Special Programs Branch to the Industry and improve the Industry's understanding of the Program and its potential future requirements. There will be no opportunity for vendor booth set-up.
This announcement is not a contract, request for proposal, promise to contract, or commitment of any kind on the part of the Government. The Army will not assume responsibility for costs incurred by attendees or for travel expenses for marketing efforts.
Note: This meeting will occur the same week as the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Blue Ridge Post Scholarship Fund Golf Outing (to be held on October 17, 2014). Any costs associated with this outing are not included in the registration fee for industry day and is the responsibility of each participant.
