WINCHESTER, Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District has awarded a contract for runway repair work at the Manas Transit Center, located at the Manas International Airport in Kyrgyzstan.

The contract was awarded Jan. 20 to Serka Taahhut Insaat A.S. of Ankara, Turkey, for $17,842,508.

The scope of work requires the contractor to design and construct the repair of the touchdown areas on each end of the existing runway at the Manas Transit Center. The runway must remain open at all times during construction, so repairs are expected to be achieved in two phases to allow for continued flight operations.

Its work includes designing and constructing facilities for use by U.S. forces, performing engineering activities for other U.S. government and foreign agencies, and providing operations and maintenance services for various customers.
