WINCHESTER, Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District has awarded a contract to provide repairs, construction and related support functions at various installations and facilities in Egypt.
The one-year contract, awarded Jan. 31 to the joint venture – URS/Contrack Pacer Forge JV – has four one-year option periods that can be awarded at the government's discretion. It has the capability for use of fixed price task orders to accommodate new construction, operations and maintenance, and surveys; and cost reimbursement task orders for renovations and repairs. The maximum capacity over the five-year lifespan of the contract is $68,250,000.
Work includes the renovation, upgrade or repair of facilities; minor construction; and operations and maintenance services. Projects may include sunshades, fencing, dining facilities, water tanks, sleeping quarters, office buildings, maintenance facilities, and utilities.
The Facilities Support Services program falls under the Foreign Military Sales program. A component of the Defense Department's security assistance program, accomplished through the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, FMS transfers defense equipment, services and training to allied nations to increase stability and capabilities for mutual benefit.
The Middle East District provides engineering, construction and related services in the Middle East, Central Asia and other areas. Its work includes designing and constructing facilities for use by U.S. forces, performing engineering activities for other U.S. government and foreign agencies, and providing operations and maintenance services for various customers. In addition, the District provides project management, engineering, contracting and support services to USACE districts in Afghanistan.
