Middle East District Awards Blatchford-Preston Complex Phase III

WINCHESTER, Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District awarded a task order contract on March 26 for phase three of the Blatchford-Preston Complex in Southwest Asia. Awarded for $34.1 million, the contract went to AMEC Environment and Infrastructure, Inc. of Plymouth Meeting, Pa.

The Blatchford-Preston Complex is a multi-phased project for use by the U.S. Air Force. The Phase III contract will provide two billets totaling 200,000 square feet. The contract also includes utilities and related site improvements. The performance period is 26 months.

The first phase of construction was completed and opened in 2008, and the second phase is expected to be finished in February 2013. Facilities for Phase I included nine dormitories to billet personnel, a community mall, fitness center, a dining facility, medical center, fire station, and associated structures. Phase II consisted of two dormitories and a warehouse.

Middle East District awards task orders under a set of Multiple Award Task Order Contracts awarded June 16, 2011, that went to 14 firms. The firms may be called upon to support design-build and construction projects throughout the 20 countries of U.S. Central Command's area of responsibility, which is defined as including Afghanistan, Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and Yemen. In addition, the District provides project management, engineering, contracting and support services to USACE districts in Afghanistan.
