Marines from III MEF arrive in South Korea for Freedom Shield 25

U.S. Marines from across III Marine Expeditionary Force offload from the High-Speed Transport ship USNS Guam (T-HST-1) at Pohang Port, South Korea, as well as from a KC-130J Hercules cargo plane at Pohang-Gyeonggi Airport, Mar. 1, 2025. Over 800 Marines arrived between the port and airfield, during Freedom Banner 25, facilitated by Marines from III MEF Support Battalion, acting as the Command Element and arrival and assembly operations element. III MSB provides and coordinates direct combat services support, security, and administrative services to III MEF, 3d Marine Expeditionary Brigade and III MEF Information Group Command Elements to enable III MEF to win in competition and conflict. Mission

The Middle East District provides engineering, design, construction execution, and related services and support to mission partners in the USCENTCOM area of responsibility (AOR) to increase regional security and stability in support of enduring U.S. interests; on order, supports contingency operations.

 

The Middle East District is a subordinate element of the Transatlantic Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
