“Inside AFIMSC” - Energy efficient B-huts: Saving lives through energy efficiency

Two nearly identical barracks huts — called “B-huts” — constructed at the Air Force Civil Engineer Center Lab on Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, will soon be the site of a six-month energy efficiency experiment. Air Force and Navy civil engineers worked together to build the two structures where the northwest Florida spring and summer heat and humidity are very similar to climate conditions in other theaters of operation. The only difference between the huts is their level of energy efficiency.

Mission

The Middle East District provides engineering, design, construction execution, and related services and support to mission partners in the USCENTCOM area of responsibility (AOR) to increase regional security and stability in support of enduring U.S. interests; on order, supports contingency operations.

 

The Middle East District is a subordinate element of the Transatlantic Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
