171220-N-NJ416-001 INDIAN OCEAN (Dec. 20, 2017) Sailors aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) fire 25mm rounds from a Mark 38 Mod II machine gun system during a live fire exercise on the ship’s weather deck. America, part of the America Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is operating in the Indo-Asia Pacific region to strengthen partnerships and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency. The Middle East District provides engineering, design, construction execution, and related services and support to mission partners in the USCENTCOM area of responsibility (AOR) to increase regional security and stability in support of enduring U.S. interests; on order, supports contingency operations.

 

The Middle East District is a subordinate element of the Transatlantic Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
