WINCHESTER, Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District held its Annual Awards Ceremony for fiscal year 2011 on Feb. 16. Commander Col. Jon Christensen presided over the event and presented the awards.
Christensen said that he was honored to help present these awards and thanked everyone for their support of the recipients and the awards program.
"It's been a busy year with a very heavy workload," Christensen said. "It took many great teams to get all this work done. Though individuals won the awards, it comes down to teamwork. I thank all of you who had a part in these successes, whether helping these individuals directly or being part of the nomination process. It is great teamwork and I appreciate all your efforts."
The awards are presented to those who have consistently done quality work on time and within budget. They are the people who exemplify "the spirit and commitment to making the Middle East District the best place for the best people to work," according to the official awards policy.
Nominations for these awards were solicited last fall. Any employee may nominate any other employee for the honors. The awards committee – employees from throughout the district – determines winners and recommendations for each category. The senior leadership team makes the final selections.
