Lieutenant Colonel Matthew S. Reagan is Deputy Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District, located in Winchester, Virginia.
The Middle East District is responsible for providing engineering, construction, and related services in the Middle East, Central Asia, and other areas as required. Its work includes designing and constructing facilities for use by U.S. forces, performing engineering activities for other U.S. government and foreign agencies, and providing operations and maintenance services for various customers. In addition, the district provides project management, engineering, contracting and support services to the USACE district in Afghanistan.
As Deputy Commander, LTC Reagan is responsible for supporting USACE operations in the region and for overseeing all business support organizations within the district.
LTC Reagan was active duty Army from 2001 to 2006, with assignments including Executive Officer, B Co, 1-48th Basic Training Battalion at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; Platoon Leader, C Company, 5th Engineer Battalion, Taji, Iraq and Fort Leonard Wood; Executive Officer, B Company, 5th Engineer Battalion, and Operations Officer S-3, 1st Engineer Brigade, both at Fort Leonard Wood.
As a Reserve Officer, LTC Reagan was the Operations Officer and Team Chief for the NORTHCOM and EUCOM Cell, Contingency Response Unit, at HQUSACE in Washington, D.C. May 2006-March 2013. During that time, he was mobilized and deployed to Iraq to serve as the Deputy of the Iraq Area Office for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers element in Baghdad for 2011. Since March 2013 until his current assignment, he was an instructor at the Command and General Staff College at Fort Belvoir, Va.
LTC Reagan’s education includes a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Economics from Christendom College. His military education includes Basic Combat Training, Officer Candidate School, Engineer Officer Basic Course, Engineer Captains Career Course, Joint Operations Orientation Course and Command and General Staff College. LTC Reagan is a certified Program Management Professional.
His military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star (OLC), the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, two Army Achievement Medals, and a Meritorious Unit Commendation medal.
LTC Reagan is married and has two children.
